A THOUSAND boxes filled with essentials will be sent to low-income Tasmanians when they move house as a house-warming present this winter.
The state government has provided $200,000 to allow Colony 47 to distribute the house-warming boxes statewide.
Colony 47 chief executive Therese Taylor said the organisation was struggling to meet demand before the government agreed to contribute.
The boxes are designed to ease the stress of moving and contain items such as dust and draught tape, door sausages, hot water bottles and rugs, along with kitchen, laundry and food essentials.
Ms Taylor said another batch of 1000 boxes would go out during summer.
