Robyn Kennedy get Leeanne Lovegrove in the right frame of mind for her headshave on Friday night. When Leeanne Lovegrove’s uncle died last month from leukaemia she had no hesitation in shaving her head as a fundraiser.
“He was diagnosed just before Christmas and up till then, I knew nothing about leukaemia,” the 30-year-old Dungog resident said.
“Some friends asked if I would become involved in Shave for a Cure, a fundraiser for the Leukaemia Foundation, and it was an easy decision to say yes.”
Leeanne will be joined by friends Jillian Berry, formerly of Dungog, and Amy Wills and Angela Holzhauser..
“I have raised $500 to date and collectively with the girls, more than $3000,” she said.
“Local businesses have been very generous and I personally would like to raise $1000 before the shave at the Rutherford Hotel on Friday night.”
Jill Berry had her hair dyed flamingo pink a few weeks ago for the same cause.
“Rather than just having my head shaved on the day, I thought I might have two goes at raising money for the charity,” Jill said.
“I like to support the Leukaemia Foundation which needs all the money they can get.”
Donations can be left for Leeanne at Dowling Street Hair Studio.
