Dr Khan was born in Pakistan and completed his medical graduation from Quaid-e-Azam University in Pakistan.

Further to his graduation he continued to expand his knowledge by completing various other studies and has been actively involved with volunteer work.

He feels this has enhanced his knowledge and understanding of the different needs of various communities and is grateful that he has had the opportunity to make a difference where needed.

After coming to Australia and passing all of the required exams by the Medical Council of Australia he has worked in several hospitals in Tasmania, NSW and Queensland including John Hunter and Gosford.

Even though he had several offers, he chose to come to Stroud through the Gloucester Medical Centre.

“I met with the Gloucester team two months ago and felt very confident with their welcome and support,” he said. “It was through the Rural Doctors Network I found the practice and it all came together in a picture perfect

way.

“The Stroud community has been lovely . . . very warm and welcoming.”

Dr Khan will be working at the practice in Stroud from Monday to Wednesday, and Friday while Thursday will be spent at Stroud Community Lodge.

“There are a lot of changes I want to make at the lodge, with the main one being to have everything computerised,” he said.

“I have started discussions with the lodge staff but the main outcome is the wellbeing of the residents. This won’t happen overnight, it will take a few months for it to be implemented completely.”

Dr Khan is married to Farah and they have one young daughter and a second child on the way.

His hobbies include reading especially history, listening to music, playing squash, cricket, football and water sports.
