A treasured heirloom, worn with pride at Dungog on Anzac Day, has been lost.
Ruby McClure of Willoughby attended the 10.30am service in memory of her late brother Harold Phipps, wearing a gift from him, his WWII service badge.
Shortly before the march, just off the main street, her daughter Christine Bryan of Newcastle noticed it was gone.
“It has broken free of the safety chain,” she said.
“She doesn’t have many of her brothers’ possessions and it means a lot to her.”
Phipps, a RAAF engineer, received the silver wings badge inlaid with Red, white and blue stones, for his service in Darwin.
If anyone has information regarding its whereabouts they can call Mrs Bryan on 0439 409 014.
