A 41-year-old Adamstown man had a run of bad luck after attending the recent Thunderbolt Rally in Dungog.
A police spokesman said at 12.15am on Sunday, May 20, the man was driving home along Clarence Town Road when he got a flat tyre.
“Bad luck?,” the spokesman said.
“He changed the tyre but locked the keys in the boot.
“More bad luck?
“Police noticed he was parked in a dangerous position and stopped to see if they could help.
“They noticed he smelt of alcohol.
“A breath test revealed a reading of 0.124 and he was charged with middle-range drink-driving.
“That wasn’t bad luck but stupidity.”
He will appear in Dungog Local Court on July 9.
“His license was suspended and his family was happy to drive to Dungog in the middle of the night to pick him up,” the spokesman said.
