Good roll-up for bowls

Last week at Tuesday Clique there were 30 bowlers.

Winners on the day were Geoff Olsen, George Vielhauer and Jeff Beard with runners-up Don Chesworth, Ron Moseley and John Flanagan.

The loser’s consolations were won by Bill Walker, John Thronsen and Don Middlebrook.

Treasure chest went to Ian Eyb and the dill of the week was Gary Picton.

Wednesday night twilight bowls has now gone into its winter recess but bowlers are still invited to play socially on Wednesday nights, minus the meal, until the bitter cold sets in.

The major singles are now down to the semi finals with Phil Reeves to play Damien Reeves and Craig Deasey to play Jon Martin.

These games are scheduled for this weekend.

The draw is now on the board for the minor singles and the first round of games is scheduled to be played on or before Sunday.

Also on the board are the Shire Bowls nomination forms which close next Monday.

The events are men’s singles, men’s pairs, ladies pairs, mixed pairs, men’s triples and men’s fours.

The shire bowls are due to commence on the first weekend in July.

There is to be a pennant trial against Gresford on Saturday, June 16 to prepare them for their zone playoff in Forster the following weekend.

They are keen to have a strong outfit to play against. Interested bowlers can place their names on the board.

On Sunday, June 17, a ‘pork run’ is to be held, inviting open nominations from both men and women and on June 30 a gala tournament is to be played inviting nominated teams of men or women for three bowl pairs.

Winners receive $50 meat trays and runners-up receive $25 meat trays with consolation prizes also to be won.

Finally, on Tuesday, June 19 we are hosting 43 bowlers from East Lakes to a Tuesday Clique barbecue and bowls.
