Dungog Shire Council has launched forward to be among the first regional areas of New South Wales to adopt Countrytell’s dynamic wireless broadband services.
After signing off on the project last month, it is estimated the Dungog community should secure benefits of the upgrade by late December 2012.
The Dungog community is now taking an iconic step forward with Countrytell.
As the Internet is a core component of daily infrastructure for education, businesses and the community, Dungog will reap the benefits of high-speed wireless broadband across all sectors of the community.
The not-for-profit Telecommunications Company Countrytell are funded on behalf of the NSW Government Community Broadband Development (CBD) Program to quickly bring high quality, 4G wireless broadband services to regional, rural and remote areas of Australia.
Chief technology officer of Countrytell Rohan Green is delighted to welcome Dungog Shire Council into the next phase of technology in Australia.
“Council’s resolution to participate in the community broadband program with Countrytell that will deliver superfast broadband to its shire and open the door to the communication revolution is an exciting step forward for both Countrytell and Dungog Shire Council,” he said.
“4G wireless broadband will transform the way in which the local Dungog community connect with the wider world and engage with the online environment.
“It will improve business productivity and efficiency and create a new level of reliability for Internet users.
Council’s economic development and tourism coordinator Ivan Skaines said there are a number of people who have relatively slow speed broadband and others who currently do not have access to broadband at all and are relying on dial-up.
“So an improved, reasonably priced internet connection from this upgrade would be very welcome in the community,” he said.
The roll out of Countrytell wireless broadband in the Dungog region aims to commence this month.
