Dungog & District Neighbourcare is celebrating National Volunteer Week 2012 which is being held from May 13 to 19 with a series of morning teas throughout the district.
General manager of Neighbourcare Kerry Broad said this is a small thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers who assist the organisation in delivering services to those in need within the local area.
“We couldn’t do it without them,” she said.
“We would like to see as many volunteers as possible attend the morning teas, so we can show them a token of our appreciation for all that they do.”
Kerry stated that in 2011 volunteers have assisted in delivering over 39,700 instances of service over 25,000 plus hours.
“This is a huge effort for such a small population base.
“All the volunteers should give themselves a pat on the back for such a tremendous effort.
“As always though, we are looking for more volunteers to assist with our services, especially delivering meals.
“We need volunteers to deliver meals in all areas to help ease the load on our existing volunteers and to help us to make our service stronger, particularly in the Gresford, Paterson, Clarence Town and Dungog as well as all other areas, and volunteers for respite, transport and assistance carers.
“If anyone is interested in finding out more please call our office and one of our staff will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.”
The morning teas will be held at Clarence Town Monday, May 14, East Gresford Tuesday, May 15, Dungog Thursday, May 17, and Tocal Friday, May 18.
